Have you ever watched a movie or a television show and seen a character walk by in a gown that you just know you've seen before? No, chances are you aren't just imagining it - there are literally hundreds of great examples of costumes that have been reused and recycled for use in other films. So if you've seen a recycled costume before that you don't see in our galleries, send it in!

I've got four new costume pages up, as well as several older pages updated with 4 new costumes and 11 new sightings!
If I've failed to credit you for anything, please feel free to shoot me an e-mail or leave a comment on the appropriate page and I'll be happy to fix it. I've currently got 130 e-mails filled with recycled costumes, so I'm slowly working through the list, and everyone's contribution will find its way up eventually, I promise! Five new costumes and fifteen new sightings for all of you today, with emphasis on the BBC's new adaptation of Emma in celebration of its premiere in the U.S.
Have those of you in the U.S. been enjoying Emma? Masterpiece Classic still has a great schedule lined up, so be sure to tune in (and of course be on the lookout for recycled costumes). Here is a nice preview of the 2010 season.
I still have a few more costumes from the new production of Emma to update, but next week I'll probably post them, as well as some others from other productions too. To those of you who have contributed costumes from The Tudors - I'm hanging on to those for now and many of them will be posted in a couple of months in order to celebrate the premiere of season 4. If anyone knows of any other premieres of costume dramas that we can focus on that has many recycled costumes, please don't hesitate to mention them!

Well, Return to Cranford has ended, but I had a few more submissions lying around that I figured I would post from anyway. Of course, this week, Masterpiece Theatre begins running Emma, so be sure to tune in for that! In the meantime, enjoy eight new costumes and twenty three new sightings from both Emma and Cranford!
In a couple of weeks we will go back to regular submissions in every category, so those of you who contributed recently should see some of your sightings go up in a few weeks.
January 16, 2010
Whew! What a week! We're still continuing on our celebration of Return to Cranford - the second part of which premieres Sunday evening on Masterpiece Theatre for those of you in the U.S. Emma will begin next week. So watch both shows and keep those eyes peeled for even more recycled costumes that may not yet be featured on this site. And of course, feel free to send in contributions from any production you may find recycled costumes from!
Enjoy the six new recycled costumes and fourteen new sightings!
January 9, 2010
Masterpiece Theatre (for you American viewers) will be playing Return to Cranford on the 10th and 17th, and the BBC's Emma on January 24th, 31st and February 7th.
In order to celebrate, the next few weeks, we will be featuring recycled costumes from either one or both features. To see the complete Masterpiece Theatre schedule, click here.
Enjoy the six new pages with thirteen new sightings!
I know many of you have sent in submissions that have not yet made it up. Rest assured I'm getting there, slowly but surely! Keep sending in submissions! You guys are all awesome!

So thank you to everyone who visited this site, and everyone who contributed! Here is to an awesome 2010! Enjoy the first update of the new year, keep sending in submissions, and check back next weekend!

Alright - hopefully this works. I have no access to my computer, so I made this update last week and am hoping it goes through this week okay. *Crosses fingers.*
Even though we have an update this weekend, I am afraid next weekend we won't, because not only will I not have access to my files...I won't even have access to the internet. But after that, regularly scheduled updates will begin again in the new year!
I still have a lot of cleanup to do around the site, as well as a bunch of moving around of pages. I'm doing it slowly - but don't worry, it will all get done! So if you notice little changes here and there, don't worry - that's just me re-organizing. I haven't deleted anything - just check another gallery.
In the meantime, enjoy the updates everyone, and have a safe, happy and blessed Holiday season.

There is an interesting (and funny) article on Cracked.com, called 5 Things Hollywood Reuses More Than Plots, which discusses the reuse of props, sound effects, Disney animation and of course...costumes. Be warned, the article does contain some language.
Small update this weekend, because I'm also already working on next weekend's update. I'll be out of town next weekend with no access to my files, so I'm trying to get next week's update ready so all I have to do is press a button. So even though I'm out of town, if all goes according to plan, you should still get your regularly scheduled update!
I'm slowly moving accessories into the right gallery. We have 4 updated pages and 3 new pages today with seven new sightings.

The November/December issue of Costume Chronicles has been released and is free for download! It's a 40 page issue dealing with themes of fantasy and fairy tales.
Go to hotpinkpetticoat.com or click on the image above to download. Well worth the read!
Be on the lookout for our regular weekend update late Saturday or early Sunday.

Wow, it's December already! Where has the time gone? The site has been up and running for six months now, and what began as a little hobby I thought I'd like to share with people has turned into something else entirely! I was so surprised (and thrilled) to find there were so many people out there finding recycled movie costumes just like I was!
This weeks update probably doesn't look as big from your end as it does from mine (5 new costumes, 18 new sightings, 8 updated pages). I'm at that stage in cleaning the site where things acstually get messier before they are cleaned up, so bear with me! Moving so many pages from one gallery to another took a very long time indeed, and the Accessories gallery still is not complete. I've moved every accessory that was in the Tudor-Elizabethan section to its proper new home, so next week I'll probably do the same for another gallery.

If you've found a sighting I failed to credit you for, please let me know. I've got hundreds of e-mails in my inbox and a fair bit of overlap with people finding the same costume - so it's very possible that I've accidentally left your name off. Just leave me a comment, and I'll be sure to fix it, because I want everyone to get the credit that they deserve!
Until next week!

Friday was Black Friday - when everyone goes out and purchases items on sale for the holiday season, and I confess I purchased more than one costume drama for my collection....I can no longer watch films without finding recycled costumes in them, so we'll see how that goes!
Secondly, I would like to remind everyone that recycled items from film and television from all countries is welcome. I've heard of quite a few shows from Japan that recycle some of their wonderful costumes, so those are more than welcome. Old British and American tv shows and mini-series also often recycled costumes and props, so keep in mind that those are also more than welcome! If it's been used in film or television at any time and then used again for some purpose - don't hesitate to send anything in!
Five pages updated this weekend with seven new sightings as I've been out of town, but things should really pick back up after December. I have lots of plans for the site, and plenty more content to put up, so keep and eye out and keep sending in submissions!
November 21, 2009
A few new pages and updates to older pages today, with four new costumes and twelve new sightings.
You'll notice I've added a new gallery, marked Accessories. We have so many various accessories that get recycled in so many productions, that there is no logical time period for them - therefore, items such as jewelry, purses, shoes, crowns, hats, etc - will all be placed in the accessories gallery. Obviously not all of the older applicable entries have been moved to this gallery yet - but they will eventually. So if you see a bunch of pages going absent from other galleries, make sure to check the accessory gallery - that's probably where it will have been moved.
I'm not sure if there will be an update next weekend. As of right now, I still do not know if I will be in town or not.
Keep sending in submissions! You guys are great!
November 14, 2009
Three new costumes today with six new sightings. Slowly but surely our numbers keep rising, and you guys continue to send me costumes. Don't worry - we still have plenty of submissions and are in no danger of running out any time soon!
I'm going to try to do some cleanup and behind the scenes work on the website this weekend - so most of what I am doing won't be very noticeable.
November 08, 2009
No new pages today, as I have been out of town half of the weekend, but I did update several pages, and there are six new costume sightings! I did, however, take the time to update the archive, so every update from the past should be there for you to pour over any information or articles you may have found of interest.
Updated Pages
Check back again next weekend - things are starting to wind down a bit at work, so hopefully I will be able to get some completely new pages up.
