This lovely gown was probably made for Marie Antoinette, but could even date to an earlier time since some of the gowns from that production were recycled. If so, then it either would originate with The Madness of King George or The Affair of the Necklace. The gown was used again the following year in Becoming Jane, and the year after that in the excellent HBO mini-series John Adams, which used many gowns previously used in Marie Antoinette for scenes that took place in France and at the Palace of Versailles. |
