While this costume is not strictly a recycled costume, nor does this blog intend to ever follow runway fashion worn more than once on the runway, this dress is being noted because it is an example of how costume designers can take off the rack clothing that may appear elsewhere on the red carpet, and purchase that same design for use as a costume.
This gown, called The Vamp, was designed by Leluxe Clothing Co., and is available in several different colors. This black copper design was worn by American singer Amanda Palmer to the 2010 Golden Globes NBC party. She wore the dress without a slip - not that it mattered, as at one point she took off her underwear, and at another, unhooked the entire dress - all while on the red carpet.
The same design was purchased for the 2014 episode of Doctor Who, entitled Mummy on the Orient Express, where it was worn by Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald.
The copper version of this dress was also purchased for use on Lily Rabe as Nora Montgomery in the 2011 first season of American Horror Story. |
